Sierra Leone Visa and Passport Service information


Sierra Leone Visa

Thinking of travelling to Sierra Leone! Sierra Leone Visa requirements are liable to change so please check with your Embassies and Foreign Missions before planning and paying for your trip. The following nationals DO NOT require a visa: Sierra Leone, Guinea & Liberia for stays of up to 90 days to Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Cote d'Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegalese, Togolese & holders of a re-entry permit.

 

Transit Visa

Is required by all travellers except those as noted above and persons continuing their journey to another country, by the same aircraft, provided they do not leave the airport.

 

Tourist Visa

Tourist Visa is required. You must submit your passport which must have at least 6 months remaining validity and one blank visa page, 1 Fully completed and signed Visa Application Form, 2 Passport photograph, Copy of round trip airline tickets or itinerary, Copy of recent bank statement or letter from bank verifying applicant has sufficient funds, International Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow Fever and Cholera is recommended by the Embassies and Foreign Missions in your area, Letter of invitation from a Sierra Leonean host and a Completed Covering Letter

  

Business Visa

Visa is required
• Submit your valid, signed U.S. Passport, must have at least 6 months remaining validity and have one blank visa page 
• 1 fully Completed and signed Visa Application Form 
• 1 Passport photograph 
• International Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow Fever and Cholera is recommended by the Embassies and Foreign Missions.  
• Copy of round trip airline tickets or travel itinerary 
• A business letter of responsibility typewritten on your company letterhead and addressed to your Embassies and Foreign Missions

The letter must explain all of the following:
• Nature of business to be performed
• Name and address of reference to be visited
• Guarantee of return transportation and sufficient funds for the visit
• The letter should be signed by an officer of the company other than the applicant
• Letter of invitation from company to be visited in Sierra Leone Completed Cover Letter
• Completed Cover Letter 

We advise that you obtain your visa before departure

The Visa will take 10 working days for the embassy to issue.

You will need:

An application order form, one visa application form, two passport size photographs, copy of hotel booking or place of resident, copy of itinerary and your passport to apply.  For Visa Fees - Please check with your Embassies and Foreign Missions

 

Sierra Leone Passports

All passports must be valid for six months. Passport requirements are liable to change at short notice, so please check before you travel.

 

International Passports Holders

We advise travellers to check their entry requirements with their embassy or consulate before they plan their journey.  Australia, United States, South Africa, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Ireland and Canadians require a visa and a valid passport. Please check with your Embassies and Foreign Missions to ask any relevant questions.

 

Passport/Visa Note

A Landing Permit (visa) can be obtained on arrival by some countries if there is no diplomatic representation at point of origin and if a letter of invitation is provided. This can be organised by a sponsor or host with the Principal Immigration Officer in Freetown. The Freetown office of the visitor's airline must also receive a list stating flight number, date of arrival, name, nationality and passport number of each passenger 48 hours in advance. Visas must otherwise be obtained prior to arrival in country of origin. Travellers should always maintain sufficient supplies of food, water and other essentials. Travellers should carry identification and vehicle documentation.
